Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Water Reminder handles information. Water Reminder is developed and operated by EthicsLab Limited ("EthicsLab", "we", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16870606.
Water Reminder works without an account, advertising, analytics, or a developer-operated server. We do not collect, sell, or use your app data for tracking.
Information stored on your device
Depending on the features you use, Water Reminder can store:
- Your name and hydration-plan preferences.
- Reminder schedules and app settings.
- Drink amounts and times.
- Photos captured in the app while logging drinks.
- Optional coordinates and a nearby place or address for a drink log.
- A reference to an Apple Health sample created by the app, so it can remove that sample if you delete the related drink.
This information stays in the app's local storage. Drink photos use iOS file protection and are excluded from device backups. The app does not import photos from your photo library.
Camera and optional location
Camera access is used to capture the private photo attached to a drink log. If you choose to enable location, the app can save your coordinates and use Apple's geocoding service to obtain a nearby place or address. Location is requested only while you are using the logging screen and is stored with the local record. EthicsLab does not receive it.
Apple Health
Apple Health integration is optional and write-only. When you enable it, Water Reminder writes the amount and time of a logged drink to Apple Health as dietary water. The app does not request permission to read your Health data.
When a linked drink is deleted, Water Reminder also asks Apple Health to delete the sample it created. Samples without a saved link may need to be removed manually in the Health app. Health data is managed by Apple and your device under your Apple Health permissions.
Apple Watch, reminders, and Apple services
A paired Apple Watch can receive your current hydration totals and ask the iPhone to open photo logging. Photos and locations are not sent to the Watch.
Apple system services process permissions, notifications, alarms, Health data, Watch connectivity, and optional reverse geocoding under Apple's terms and privacy policies. EthicsLab does not receive this information.
Data collection and tracking
Water Reminder contains no advertising SDK, analytics SDK, third-party tracking technology, or developer-operated backend. It does not create an account or upload your drink records or photos to EthicsLab.
Retention and deletion
Local data remains until you delete an individual drink, use Erase all local data in the app's Settings, or remove the app. Erasing local data removes app records, photos, reminder schedules, and preferences from the device. Apple Health samples that cannot be matched to a saved local reference may need to be deleted in the Health app.
Children
Water Reminder is a general wellness app and is not specifically directed at children. Because the app has no account or developer-operated data service, EthicsLab does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app.
Support communications
If you email us for support, we receive your email address and whatever information you include in your message. Support correspondence is handled as described in the EthicsLab website privacy policy. Please do not send private drink photos, precise location information, or Health data unless it is necessary for us to help you.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Water Reminder changes or when legal requirements change. We will update the effective date above. We will revise this policy before adding a developer-operated server, advertising, analytics, accounts, or materially different data use.
